What must you do to be Saved?

Sin entered into the world in the garden of Eden when Adam and Eve chose to disobey God, and buy into the Devil's lie.  We are all born with a sinful nature.  The Bible says that ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. When compared to other people, you may think that you are a pretty good person, but God does not compare us with each other.  Because He is perfect and holy, God compares us with the perfection of his son.  When faced with this comparison all our righteousness is, in God's eyes, as filthy rags. So, because of our sin, we deserve to be separated from our perfect creator forever.  "For the wages of sin is death"......we deserve an eternity in hell.

BUT....that isn't the end of the story.  Because God loved me, and because He loved you so much, He created a way for us to be reconciled to Him.  A way that He could see us as righteous.  The only way to do this was to sacrifice something that was perfect and without sin, something that would take the place of all mankind and bridge the great divide that sin created.  That something was God's only son, Jesus Christ.  "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life!"
God offers us a free gift!  He offers to all who would call upon His name, eternal life!  The Bible says that the only way to this eternal life, the only way to spend eternity in Heaven with our creator, is through Jesus Christ who became the sacrifice for your sins and for my sins.  Jesus shed his blood on the cross to cover all the sins that mankind had committed and would commit.  He became our sacrificial lamb, our substitute.

But, I serve a risen Savior!  Jesus conquered death, and rose from the grave on the third day, and now He is seated at God's right hand.  He is alive, and he offers you and me life!  "He who has the son has life, and he who has not the son hath not life."
If you would like to accept Christ as your Savior, all you must do is recognize that you are a sinner, and that you need a Savior.  Call upon the name of the Lord, tell Him that you need Him. Tell Him that you have sinned against Him, and that you need to be forgiven. Ask Him to come into your heart and cleanse you from all of your unrighteousness.  Ask Him to be the Lord of your life, and to help you to discover His will for you.  The Bible says that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.  If you have done the above, and you meant it with your heart, you can be sure that you will spend eternity with God in heaven.
Your walk with the Lord has begun!  You have been given a new nature.  The Bible says that old things are passed away, and all things are become new!  Your slate is wiped clean!  Your past is forgiven and forgotten because of the work that Christ did on the cross.  You are a new creation, and Jesus lives in and through you.  You will never be the same again!  You will experience joy and peace like you have never known before!
As you read the Bible and pray, you will get to know God more intimately.  The book of 1st John is a great place to start reading to understand more about what your salvation means. The book of James is another excellent place to read about the Christian walk.  If you have made this decision, please feel free to e-mail me at beachbum731@hotmail.com so that I can answer any questions you might have, and so that I can pray for you.
