Meet Zachary....
Zach, our first-born, is becoming such a young man! He has experienced his first crush and heart break this year, and is learning the value of friendship. He still adores fishing and has adopted boogie boarding as his new passion. We go to the beach several times a week and he is always first in the waves and last out. I am pleased to say that Zach is finally reading for pleasure! He read a children's version of Daniel Boone and Treasure Island this Spring. This is quite an accomplishment for the boy who hated reading! Zach earned his swim tag by passing the swim test for the base pool ,and is so proud to hear it clinking around his ankel when he goes to the pool. He also got his dependent ID this year which gives him more freedom around base. He can now ride his bike up to the store to get milk or bread for me, and he can also go to the student center and the pool on his own. He has just recently joined a bowling league this winter, and is doing so well. He bowled a 122 yesterday which was the top score out of the ten kids on the league.
He has also taken up skateboarding and constructed his own "box" and rail to grind on. David made him two ramps, so now he has his own mini skate park! |

Meet Madison.... Madison Joy, our first daughter is such a Joy! She has developed into such a fun little girl and she keeps me very busy. She loves to shop, which I find so great. She and I will head straight for the clothing racks, and debate for hours over which outfit looks best with which shoes, and then we will go find the perfect hair accessory. She has an eye. Her other favorite passtimes include coloring, crafting, nail painting, playing dress up, playing at the park, roller blading, doing make-overs with her friends, and performing on her karaoke machine. She also puts on "concerts" for David and I on a weekly basis. She is a little performer. Madison passed the swim test this summer for the base pool. Amid many many doubts that she could do it, our little mermaid swam circles around some of the older kids who had failed the test. I am told that a crowd gathered around her as she was finishing her final lap! She also had to tread water for 3 minutes. Encouraged every second by her Daddy, she passed that with no trouble either. She has done well in school so far. She practically taught herself cursive and prefers it to printing anyday. Her reading is coming right along as well. She keeps right up with the boys on the waves, and has learned to "get over" many of her fears in order to not be left out by them. She is so excited about being a big sister and having a little sister of her very own. She has already made so many plans for the two of them and it fills my heart with joy to watch her get so excited over Brendell. |

Meet Michael.... Micheal, the good stuff in the middle, is our second born son. His sense of humor brings light to our days and his comedic timing sets him apart from most other nine year olds we know. He actually has little trade mark "acts" that he performs at random and they are always crowd pleasers. He is a fun loving little boy who proves over and over that the good guys always win out. He is a true friend and his compassion for people shows in his actions. He passed a challenging swim test this summer for the base pool and is proud to wear his "tag" proving his ability. He and his brother are learning to boogie board in the Ocean and are quite a treat to watch. Michael recently had a fashion update. We tipped his dark brown hair. Now when he spikes it up, which he often does, he has little white tips on the ends of his spikes. He looks really cool. We hesitated taking this step at 9, but he had been asking for it since he was 6, and here in California, kids his age have green and blue hair!! So we figured white tips were conservative!
Micheal's reading is improving slowly but surely. He enjoys math most of all and is doing well there. He also enjoys skate boarding and riding his scooter over the ramps that David built. I am finding so much wisdom in Michael lately. He has his own definite philosophy on things, and I find his insight on people and situations to be well beyond his years. I know that great things lie in store for that little boy! |
